The good
Every winter, Calbee confectionery issues a limited-time Fuyu Poteto, Winter Potato, variety of potato chips. Calbee's chips are made from quality Hokkaido-grown potatoes. The chips are flavoured with various luxurious ingredients. This version is Winter Potato has three varieties of cheese - camembert, cheddar, and gouda. And it's got truffle powder. The label describes the product as shifuku no atsugiri, blissful thick cut. And they are a savoury and crunchy treat. You get the sharpness of cheese with earthy notes.
The not so good
This Calbee seasonal potato chip flavour is rich and satisfying. It's also a reasonable price for a 60-gram bag at 180 yen. I would get these potato chips again. The cheeziness is quite pronounced, but I couldn't distinguish the camembert, cheddar, and gouda cheese flavours. If you're particular about cheese, you might scratch you head with this combo. I'm not terribly familiar with the musky, woody truffle delicacy. The truffle powder does impart these distinct flavours in these chips. Note that the product is about 330 calories.
