Green DAKARA, made by Suntory Beverage, is widely available in convenience stores and supermarkets. The flat drink is aimed at hydration with additional minerals. This version is shikwasa flavour.
The good
Most of the PET bottle drinks I pick up on the go are not sugary sodas. I like flat drinks for rehydration, and Suntory's Green DAKARA is a go-to. I found this version of the drink at a Family Mart convenience store. For a limited time, Green DAKARA has shikwasa flavour. The drink is flavoured with a blend of shikwasa, unshu mikan, grape, and lemon. One ingredient I didn't expect is dried tomato extract. Added minerals keep your electrolyte balance. The bottle is designed so that it can be frozen.
The not so good
This version of Green DAKARA is as good as the original. I'd get this again if I can get my hands on it. I prefer it over other sports drinks. It's cheap, too, at about 140 yen for a 600 ml bottle. Two things to note about the ingredients. First, the label doesn't indicate that this drink contains fruit juice, and in what portions. Nevertheless, it's got a nice citrus flavour. Thanks, Okinawan shikwasa. Also, the label indicates fructose is the third ingredient after grape and lemon juice. The product website lists the amounts of minerals in detail.
