The description
Daiso carries some products beyond the 100-yen price point. This item, Mini Handle Vegetable Cutter, is 200 yen. It's 9 cm by 7.5 cm. The cutter minces veggies in a flash.
The good
I cook nearly every meal I eat, so my kitchen gadgets get a workout. Recently, I broke the tempered glass bowl of my food processor, and I'm going to attempt to order a replacement. In the meantime, I needed a cheapie for mincing veggies. In a pinch, Daiso's Mini Handle Vegetable Cutter serves well. It's tiny, just 9 cm by 7.5 cm but large enough to chop about a cup's worth (250 ml if you're metric). Operating it is easy enough - seat the stainless steel blade, snap on the cutter lid, and give the handle a few pulls.
The not so good
Daiso's Mini Handle Vegetable Cutter is a pretty good small-size chopper appliance. I think it's good value for money at 200 yen. There are two things to be cautious about with this little item. First, the stainless steel blade is super sharp, and while it seats against the pin in the bottom of the bowl, it can wobble off easily. Be careful with the sharp edges. You have to cut your produce into pieces that fit in the bowl and make sure it snaps shut securely. Giving the bowl a gentle shake helps cut evenly. So far, I've made a chunky gazpacho soup with it.
