The description
Sapporo Brewery's Edelpils is a 100% malt Pilsner-type beer. Usually, this beer was only served on tap, but recently, the beer has become available in 350 ml aluminum cans.
The good
Always on the lookout for varieties of beer, I went for Sapporo Brewery's Edelpils when I discovered it at my local supermarket. Edelpils is a 100% malt beer. The beer has been served on draft in high-end restaurants in Japan. However, in 2024 and 2025, Sapporo has put out the canned version. The beer is a Pilsner-like beer. The original Edelpils brewery agreed to license Sapporo's production. What you get is a beer that pours straw-coloured with a frothy but moderate head. The aroma is hoppy and yeasty. The flavour profile is grass, wheat, and an initial pronounced bitterness. However, as you sip your way through this beer, it seems to strike a balance between the two flavours. It's a pleasant drink in the premium malt category.
The not so good
Edelpils, a beer licensed to Sapporo from the original Germany-based brewery, is worth a taste. It's a little pricier as it is in the premium malt category. It's a nice alternative to standard beers. The Edel in the name refers to noble hops. I only saw 350 ml aluminum cans and briefly at the supermarket. It's catch-as-catch-can with this somewhat limited production canned beer. Sorry for the pun. The beer is not labeled as a limited quantity. You might find it at Belx or other Belc group supermarkets.
