Guns and lilies
Sunday morning I woke up to the aircon running in my living room, opened the door to the hallway, and was met by cool, dry air. I immediately opened all the windows and doors, and headed to the local temple to enjoy the fresh, cool air.
The temple gardeners cultivate plants and flowers for every season, and maybe every week or two, something different is on display.
This week is teppo lilies, so called because they look like rifles with their long narrow flowers. They are native to Kagoshima Prefecture where they grow on mountainsides.
There are so many varieties of lilies native to Japan, and many fragrant.
