The description
Daiichi Pan, a bakery company, supplies savoury and sweet bread products to vending machines. This item, bought in April 2026, is Bacon and Mentai Cheese.
The good
Sometimes I pick up snacks and drinks from the closest vending machine. Especially in inclement weather when a walk to the nearest conbini means getting drenched. This bread product, Bacon and Mentai Cheese, is made by Daiichi Pan bakeries, and supplied to Namco branded vending machines. The two rolls, one stuffed with bacon dressed with mayonnaise and the other with mentaiko cheese, are small but tasty. The package indicates they're easy to tear apart and easy to eat. They're great with afternoon coffee.
The not so good
These two bread rolls were fresh, fluffy, and loaded with flavour. They are priced between 110 and 160 yen, depending on the vending machine company. If these two fillings are in your diet, you might like them. So, what's in this? I'm not a huge fan of eating pork products, but I compromised this time on the bacon and mayo filling. It's peppery and flavourful, if a little greasy. Mentaiko, seasoned and spiced pollock roe, goes well with cheese. It's got a little bite, but it's not excessively spicy.
