Chance to hop around Chiba Prefecture this Silver Week
Back in 2024, I told you how bummed I was about the changes to the 青春18きっぷ, Seishun 18 Ticket. The ticket used to allow for non-consecutive rides on the JR train lines. You can’t take leisurely trips on this ticket these days, as the 3- or 5-day versions require consecutive days.
I’m always on the lookout for how to make the most of train trips. There’s one more to add to the list of discount tickets - the Thank You Chiba Free Pass.

The pass is valid for two consecutive days of travel in spring and autumn. The next usage period is September 1st to October 31st. This is great timing, as we get a long Silver Week this year.
So, how far can you go? The pass covers JR lines, six private railways, some bus lines, and the Tokyo Wan Ferry. I’m planning a trip out to the Pacific Ocean side of the Boso Peninsula. The freedom to hop on and off transport makes the ticket worth it for me.
Does your region have a good-value regional pass?
