Halloween in Osaka, on the streets of Dotonburi

So last night, October 31st, Japan celebrated Halloween! Since living in Japan this was the first time I went out to see how the people here celebrated Halloween and was really surprise that it was so grand and fun!

Although the biggest Halloween event in Japan was in Shibuya, Tokyo, I think people in Kansai also were very creative and fun!

Me and my japanese friend celebrated halloween along the Dotonbori River, which is a very popular place for night out in Osaka. The view of the river is really amazing, especially during the night! But I did not think that it would be so crowded. When we were passing the bridge we couldn'teven move because of all the people -- we were so close to each other! Nonetheless, it was really fun.  I just took pictures with people in Halloween costume in the same line as me while trying to move across the bridge! Halloween in Osaka, on the streets of Dotonburi photo

The crowd just outside the store I was waiting at for my friend.  The people can even barely move.

This photo was taken while we were trying to go down to the riverside.

This lady scared me, even though I cant even see her face! Haha

There were a lot of amazing Halloween costumes that night of which I did not had the chance to take a photos of because of the congested streets of Dotonbori.

It was an amazing experience and I understand now why Halloween in Japan is so popular even compared to other countries, as Japanese people really make an effort to dress up and look very creative. I wanna share some of the photos of me and my friend while we walked around the area.

This guy just standing in the middle of the road alone and doing this pose to scare people was kinda funny for me though. Good job sir!

And look here, The Black Panther and Captain America in the middle of the busy street!

Here is Glico Man.  As you can see he is imitating the Glico man in the big picture!

I really found these three guys' costumes very cute! It looks like two people in just one costume! So nice!

There were a lot of Joker costumes last night, too and I am glad I had the chance to take a picture with this one and also with his anime friend and the angel of death at the back.

Overall, the Halloween experience in Dotonbori, Osaka was really cool! I would like to go back next year and maybe wear a costume of my own.

Halloween may be a time for adults to wear something that they would have worn before when they were younger and it is just really a night that gives people a chance to be who they want to be. Halloween is such a magical and playful night of adults being young again, and a chance to show creativity with friends and loved ones. I am really glad that my Japanese friend brought me to that place and I hope we will go again in pairs of costume.
