A Great Work Experience for JHS Student at Starbucks
A couple of years ago my children's school started a work experience program for students in second year of Junior High School. My second eldest child was in third year in the time, so she and her older brother never got to have the experience. But this year, my third oldest child had the pleasure. She was particularly lucky as she was sent to Starbucks for the three allocated days of the program!
The teachers apparently chose where the students would go. Ironically, my daughter really wanted to be sent to the kindergarten for her work experience. But ultimately, she recognized that she actually got the best placement of them all. Not only did she learn a lot - she got to taste almost all the drinks on the menu and for free! Before her work experience there she wasn't particularly interested in Starbucks, now she is a Starbucks enthusiast!
Furthermore, while I often can go months, even a year, between Starbucks visits, they got regular custom out of me for three days in a row. And for a few days after too, as I feel a sincere gratitude for the great experience they afforded my daughter. The regular staff were very warm and welcoming to both the students and the parents who went to visit their children to witness them 'working' in Starbucks.
