The Chopsticks Ceremony at Hie Shrine

Every year on August 4th, Tokyo's Hie Shrine holds one of the most distinctive annual rituals: the "Hashi Kansha Sai", or Chopsticks Appreciation Festival. Hie Shrine’s history stretches back to the Kamakura period, but this is a modern ceremony that stands out for its focus on gratitude and respect for everyday tools.

On this day only, the shrine accepts used chopsticks that would normally be thrown away and burns them as offerings to the gods. The reason for the date, August 4th, 8/4, is that it can be read as "ha (8) shi (4)", the Japanese for chopsticks. For the same reason, today is "Chopsticks Day" in Japan. 

Although, some people believe that chopsticks need to be disposed of carefully to avoid bad luck, chopstick ceremonies are rare. I have heard of one other shrine, in Shimane Prefecture, that holds an annual appreciation and burning ritual. Do you know of any other shrine or temple that offers a chopstick ceremony?
