First Jellyfish Sting Experience
This past week, on a trip to the Hokuriku region and the Sea of Japan, my daughter got stung by a jellyfish. This was our first experience of a jellyfish sting in my family. Thankfully, she was stung through a rash guard which seemed to have minimized the effect. I am grateful that we were right beside a lifeguard station and they were very helpful.
According to the lifeguards she was lucky that the jellyfish didn't leave a trail of stings, because apparently, they often do. They advised us that she stay out of the sea for about half an hour and observe her to see if she was having a bad reaction. Thankfully, she didn't. They had given us a cream to apply, which we did within minutes of the sting, so that also helped alleviate the pain and reaction.
The area was sore for about two hours after she got stung. We bought the same cream as the lifeguards had applied in a local drugstore and applied that every couple of hours. By nighttime you could no longer see the sting mark and she had minimal pain. By the following morning it was like she'd never been stung at all!
