Go Behind the Scenes at Haneda Airport's Sky Day Festival 2026

As I shared earlier today, September 20th is both Sky Day and the start of Sky Week. In the post I wrote outlining the commemoration I explained how airports around the country host special events that bring aviation closer to the public. Perhaps, the biggest Sky Day event in Japan is Haneda Airport's Sky Day Festival, which this year will take place on 26th September at Haneda Aiport and Haneda Airport Garden.

The festival is designed to help visitors learn more about aviation and the people who keep Japan's airports running. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities spread across Terminals 1, 2, and 3, as well as Haneda Airport Garden. According to the festival website, a total of 28 events are planned, including family-friendly experiences, aviation displays, and behind-the-scenes tours.

Some of the most exciting activities require advance registration, so be sure to get your reservation in quick if you want to participate. These include aircraft maintenance hangar tours, air traffic control tower visits, airport area tours, an under-jet cruise experience, and even opportunities to visit airport construction sites and passenger processing facilities that are not normally open to the public.
