A day for black chocolate
Black Chocolate Day ブラックチョコレートの日 on April 14th celebrates the refined bitterness and quiet elegance of dark chocolate, while also honoring the long history of Meiji’s beloved Black Chocolate bar.
The date for the anniversary was chosen because it follows Valentines Day on the 14th of February, and White Day on the 14th of March. And it also echoes Korea's April 14th "Black Day", when people without partners gather to enjoy black colored foods as a lighthearted way to spark new connections.
Meiji adopted the same date to highlight the shared theme of "black" on the 60th anniversary of its Black Chocolate Bar in 2021. The black chocolate bar was first released in 1961, 35 years after the classic milk bar was introduced.
Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
