The description
The Morinaga Milk Caramel Pie from McDonalds is a time limited offer released on July 14th, 2026. A pie filled with Morinaga Milk Caramel - sweet, creamy and mellow.
The good
The Morinaga Milk Caramel is a warm, nostalgic McDonald’s Japan pie that is sweet, creamy, yet mellow. It blends retro candy flavor with McDonald’s crispy pie shell for a comforting treat. Those of us who tried it in my family enjoyed it and I would buy again, but not frequently. The crispy golden shell filled with a warm filling feels like a signature of McDonald's pies. I guess it works so well they keep bringing it back, with different fillings through the seasons. The milk caramel works well for summer - a bit of welcome sweetness in the heat. The flavor is gentle and milky rather than heavy.
The not so good
As a time limited offer, you can only pick this particular pie up seasonally. They don't say on the website until when it is available, only that they released it for the 2026 season on July 14th. The website says the price starts from 200 yen. I paid 210 yen for it. So presumably the price varies by region, or maybe even restaurant. Although it's both milk and caramel in the filling, it might feel a bit one note for some. The crispy shell makes it, but it also makes a mess! Those who prefer more complex caramel profiles might find it too simple and too sweet. It’s a fun collaboration, but not necessarily a repeat‑purchase item unless you already love very sweet desserts.
