A Reminder to Take Medicine Correctly
Among all the fun, unique and endearing anniversaries of September 9th annually, is a more serious one with an important message. A Day to Take Medicine Correctly 薬をただしく飲む日 aims to remind people of the importance of not just taking medicine when it is needed, but to take it correctly - at the recommended times and intervals.
The anniversary was created by the company "Kusuri no Madoguchi" who are behind the nationwide pharmacy service EPARK Kusuri no Madoguchi. They chose the date as a wordplay on September 9th, 9/9: "Ku (9) suri wo tadashi-ku (9)" meaning "take medicine properly". The date also aligns with a traditional day, 'Choyu no Sekku', associated with longevity and good health.
The day encourages people to understand a doctor's treamten tplan and take medicine exactly as prescribed. It encourages people to recheck drug interactions, confirm how to use their regular medicines, and review expiration dates, raising awareness of safe and attentive medication habits.
