Less savings on the bus commuter pass

In my previous post I wrote about how I am saving at least 25,000 yen over a six-month period with my daughter's senior high school train commuter pass. I also had to get her a bus commuter pass, and unfortunately, I am saving significantly less with that.

Again, for security and privacy reasons, I will not disclose the bus company or the bus route. It is not the bus in the photo of this post. Like the train commuter pass, the bus commuter pass is also for six months. It cost 90,000 yen - ten times as much as the train commuter pass! However, she travels many more stops than on the train.

But her journey would only cost around another 10,000 yen over six months without the pass. In other words, the pass only saved me 10,000 yen and that's assuming she uses it on at least one weekend day. If she only uses it five days a week the savings are even less.

Do you use a bus commuter pass? Do you save much on it?
