When Childhood Snacks are in the Beauty Aisle
In my previous post, I shared how childhood‑snack hairclips have arrived at my house, but I noticed yesterday in the shops that the trend - and the collaborations - don’t stop at hairclips.
Walking through the accessory and cosmetics sections, I kept spotting familiar snack characters on completely different products: hand creams, lip balms, compact mirrors, even tiny travel lotions. It seems the brands behind Packuncho, Koala’s March, Milky, and other nostalgic treats have expanded well beyond the hair accessory shelves.
What’s interesting is how seamlessly these items fit into the current kawaii aesthetic. The packaging is bright, playful, and instantly recognizable, tapping into the same nostalgia that makes the hairclips so popular with Gen‑Z and Gen‑Alpha. I saw the ones pictured in Village Vanguard where they are displayed prominently, also with matching accessories.
It’s a fun, harmless trend, and spotting these snack‑themed beauty items adds a little delight to an ordinary shopping trip.
