Polly Pocket Nostalgia in the Beauty Aisle
In my previous posts, I shared how childhood‑snack hairclips have arrived at my house, and also how I noticed yesterday in the shops that the trend, and the collaborations, don’t stop at hairclips.
While browsing the accessory section, I spotted something that made me smile: Polly Pocket hand creams and lip creams, hanging neatly on display like tiny pastel treasures. And they are not just lip creams, but they come with an adorable Polly Pocket charm hanging off them. Polly Pocket were a little after my time, but I have a younger sister who was madly into them, so they do make me nostalgic.
I wasn't really surprised to find these products, because Polly Pocket has been having a real resurgence in Japan thanks to the gachapon craze. These beauty items feel like a natural extension of that excitement: small, collectible, affordable, and irresistibly cute. They’re the kind of thing you don’t plan to buy but could easily end up bringing home because they spark a little joy!

Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
