Cherry blossoms, a birthday flower of April 21st

There are at least two birthday flowers of April 21st annually, including Nigella and Cherry Blossoms. Cherry blossoms are a broad category, and certain varieties also represent a different birthday date. But the broad category "cherry blossoms" or "sakura" are also the birthday flower of April 1st and 9th.

In the Japanese language of flowers, hanakotoba, cherry blossoms represent "graceful woman" and "spiritual beauty." The latter, "spiritual beauty" is also the meaning of cherry blossoms in other countries. An additional meaning in English speaking languages is "a good education". I find it so interesting that the meanings of flowers are often the same across countries and equally interesting that sometimes they differ.

Cherry blossoms can bloom from October to May in Japan. It depends greatly on the region and the variety of the cherry blossom. In the Kanto plain (Greater Tokyo area), you can usually see "October" and / or winter cherry blossoms in Autumn and Winter, and then the early blooming varieties start in February. The season ends with late blooming varieties as late as May. Although in recent years in the Kanto plain many finish up late in April.
