Other Toiletries That Are Useful in an Emergency

While most people focus on food, water, first-aid kits and portable toilets when preparing for disasters, small everyday items can also make an enormous difference. At a recent disaster preparedness display, I noticed a neatly arranged selection of simple, inexpensive products, the kind we often overlook until we suddenly need them.

Grooming items

It's easy to overlook things such as grooming, but even simple grooming items can make a big difference when water is limited:

• Disposable razors
• Cleansing wipes - body / face
• Compact skincare packets
• Cotton pads
• Cotton swabs
• Dry shampoo
• Tweezers
• Nail clippers
• Nail file

They’re not “luxuries”, they help maintain dignity, routine, and a sense of normalcy. What other grooming items would you add to an emergency kit?
