Surprising Fireworks at a Local Summer Festival

The summer festival of my neighborhood has been moved to Autumn, but the district beside us had their local summer festival on Saturday. We went along for the last two hours.

The festival was on from 3 pm to 8 pm, but it was so small and too hot that few people were there for the entire time. There were only three stalls with "food" - one with shaved ice, another with popcorn, and the third sold yakitori. I doubt there were more than 100 people in attendance and for the most part we all knew each other!

They had a few activities during the day, but the real highlight was the fireworks. We all knew there would be a display, but what surprised everyone was the size, scale, and quality of it. Instead of the quick five‑minute show we were expecting, the fireworks went on for at least twenty minutes, and they launched some genuinely impressive bursts. It was such a lovely surprise - enough to make the uncomfortable heat feel worth enduring.
