A day promoting a Proper, Energizing Breakfast
Today, and April 11th annually, is A Day for a Proper and Good Breakfast しっかりいい朝食の日 (Shikkari Ii Choshoku no Hi) in Japan. It is anniversary established to encourage people to start their morning with a nutritious and satisfying breakfast.
The commemoration was established by Calbee who own a granola brand, "Frugra", which is reportedly Japan's top selling granola brand. They chose April 11th as the date for the anniversary because 4/11 can be read as "proper and good" in Japanese: "shi (4) kkari ii (11)". It also also aligns with "Guts Pose Day" which is known as a victory pose reinforcing the idea that a solid breakfast fuels your victory. Or as we might say in English a "breakfast of champions"!
Furthermore, the timing also aligns with the beginning of the school year and the business year, when many people start / create new habits and routines. A good time to start / refresh a daily habit of eating a proper, energizing breakfast.

Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
