The description
Fujiya’s new Fresh Donuts series reaches its peak with the Milky flavor - a donut filled with both Fujiya's signature cream and a paste made from their iconic "Milky" sweets.
The good
Fujiya's "Milky" is an iconic, long-selling Japanese soft candy that has been produced by Fujiya since 1951. It is made from high-quality Hokkaido milk as well as condensed milk and it has a melt-in-your-mouth texture similar to soft toffee or caramel. The Milky flavor of Fujiya’s new Fresh Donuts, released at the start of summer in Japan, infuses a delicious paste made from Milky sweets, giving the donut a rich, creamy sweetness that feels both nostalgic and comforting. Combined with the soft, almost choux‑like pastry, it creates a beautifully balanced treat that quickly became our absolute favorite of the four flavors.
The not so good
As with the previous two Fujiya Fresh Donuts I reviewed on City-cost (Strawberry and Chocolate flavors) the only real drawback of the Milky flavor is the price. It’s a little higher than a standard convenience‑store donut, and if you’re buying several flavors at once, the total adds up quickly. Still, the quality is excellent, the cream is generous, and the flavor is easily the best of the lineup. So, while the cost is worth mentioning, it doesn’t take away from how much we loved it and I will definitely be buying this flavor of the donut again.
