Japan Goals: Kanra Umbrella Sky

With yesterday being Umbrella Day, I was reminded of one of my travel goals for Japan. And it is one that shouldn't be too hard for me to fulfil as the location is relatively near, in a neighboring prefecture to where I live. I live in Saitama Prefecture and this particular travel goal of mine is to an event in Gunma Prefecture. 

The event is the "Kanra Umbrella Sky". Kanra is a town I have visited in the past, but I would like to go back to see their umbrella sky. However, I don't know if this is an annual event or not. I learned about it because Instagram's famous 'algorithm' bombarded me with content from this event from around late April to early May this year. Speaking of, that is one of the reasons I would like to see this event - because it is on before most other umbrella sky starts. Umbrella skies are often a rainy season event.

I found information about the event on the Kanra Town Tourism website and unfortunately the event is finished for this year. It was on from April 18th to May 31st. I have it bookmarked for next year, so here's hoping it is an annual event and not just a one off. Have you heard of the Kanra Umbrella Sky? Have you been?
