A Day One Piece Fans Know Well

One Piece Day is celebrated by fans on July 22nd every year. July 22nd marks the anniversary of the manga’s very first publication in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1997. Established by Shueisha, the day honors the beginning of Eiichiro Oda’s legendary adventure saga and the enormous cultural impact it has had over nearly three decades.

At its heart, One Piece Day celebrates the spirit of the series itself: a story of dreams, friendship, and adventure, following Monkey D. Luffy’s quest for the “One Piece” and the title of Pirate King. Over the years, the manga has broken countless records, including Guinness recognition for the most copies published by a single author, and has surpassed hundreds of millions of volumes in circulation.

Fans across Japan - and indeed around the world - use July 22nd to revisit favorite episodes, join events, enjoy collaborations, and celebrate a series that continues to inspire new generations with its humor, battles, and emotional storytelling.
