Trumpet Vine, a birthday flower of July 14th

Trumpet Vine, Nouzenkazara (ノウゼンカズラ / 凌霄花), is a birthday flower for July 14th annually. As far as I am aware, July 14th is the only date the Trumpet Vine appears on the birthday flower calendar. It is also known as Chinese Trumpet Vine or Chinese Trumpet Creeper and its scientific name is Campsis Grandiflora.
It is a vivid summer flower, known for its bold orange blossoms that spill over garden walls and trellises in the hottest months of the year. They say it blooms from July to September, but in Saitama Prefecture you can start to see it as early as June. The photo in this post was taken in mid-June.
In the hanakotoba (Japanese language of flowers) it carries the meanings "fame" and "honor". In English floriography it is also said to mean "fame". Perhaps from the vivid, impossible-to-miss orange or from the way trumpets were often used to herald the arrival of someone renowned!
Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
