Take a seat on Chair Day!

Today, and April 14th annually, is Chair Day 椅子の日 in Japan. It is also Higashikawa, Town of Furniture, Chair Day (家具の町東川町・椅子の日). The reason they are both on April 14th is a bit of word play; 4/14 can be read as "good chair" - "yo (4) isu (14)".

In addition, the timing aligns with the start of the new academic and business year in Japan, when perhaps people are buying new furnishings, including things like school desks and chairs! The chair is such a simple bit of furniture, but also a very important one - supporting our posture, but our productivity as well.

Chair Day is a reminder to choose a seat that fits our bodies and suits our lifestyles, whether a desk chair, reading chair, office seat, dining chair or any other.
