Intimations of Edo life

This street of antique buildings is a section of the Nikko Reiheishi Kaido, the route to Nikko. The route was used for the procession to inter Tokugawa Ieyasu at Nikko Toshogu. The street takes about five minutes to walk and is dotted with antique buildings. It's rather sleepy with a few businesses, a museum, and residences along the route. While it has many preserved buildings, you'll see incursions of modern architecture. Still, it intimates what the old Nikko route looked like a long time ago.
