Spacious, friendly service, and gorgeous design

To wrap up a day at Tochigi City, my friend and I stopped by Starbucks on the main street lined with kura storehouses. The low-slung building has an exterior that respects the city's heritage with dark yakisugi finish. The cedar wood is charred to protect it from inclement weather. Outside, a huge canvas banner recalls the street furniture of a bygone era. Inside, the shop is spacious with bench seating, and outside there is a terrace with a pavilion and trees so you can relax and enjoy the town's outdoor atmosphere. In the evening, it's dramatically lit with uplights. The staff were friendly and chatted with my companion.
