Excellent Fun For Fans of the Tokugawa Shogunate
This little building which is part of the greater shrine complex does require a separate ticket for entry and has a little gift shop where many things are a little bit pricey but well worth it. The two things I bought even though I was low on cash included a 2000 yen picture of the incarnation of buddha that represents my mother's birth year on the Eastern zodiac and incense relating to winter for 1000 yen. The incense were offered in scents for each season and it was possible to get a 4000 yen pack that included each, but I didn't have money for all of that. The treasures inside include portraits of the shoguns from the Tokugawa shogunate which were very exciting for me alone as no one else in my family seemed to care at all, but it was still exciting to see. It's a lovely little taste of history with a nice, if tiny, gift shop. English is not the primary language, of course, but most international travelers seem to do just fine here. It is worth stopping by if you're in the area anyway and the garden out back is just delightful. A little walk around that pond can't help but do wonders for the soul.
