Delicious unagi in old town
Near the river promenade in Tochigi City, there are a dozen cafes and restaurants that have great ratings on Hot Pepper and Google Maps. We took a chance on this unagi restaurant, Akadonya, on the opposite side of the river boat cruise. The portions and presentation are great. The clear broth soup and the pickled vegetables that accompany the unagi are refreshing and made with care. Unagi is a treat and usually has a luxurious price tag, but 2600 yen is reasonable for this exquisite fish dish.
