    Sweet Treats near Historic Shrine

This little place is a really fun thing to walk to after enjoying the marvels of Nikko's shrines and temples. We got there in the early afternoon. While it was empty when we arrived, by the time we ordered and received our food it was busier, but the space was spread out enough that it didn't feel crowded. I ordered the french toast with fruit and was overjoyed with what I got. While the egg batter did not dip completely through the bread, the bread is also not of the stale or hard varieties, so not being completely saturated at the crust level was better for the texture overall. The amount of fruit was wonderful. My daughter grabbed the chocolate pancakes, eating them quickly. My husband got a strawberry smoothie of some kind along with his meal and it looked excellent. There was also a to-go counter for bakery goods but we didn't need more sweets after our decadent break. If you're in Nikko and looking for a sweet treat after a walk around the shrines and temples, this would definitely be a good choice.
