Santa themed campsite and cabins

Santa Hills is definitely in our top ten campsites in all of Japan. For my kids its tied in first place with Moose Family Campsite. It is all the things that they can do at these campsites that wins the hearts of children. Santa Hills as the name might suggest is a Santa themed resort. It is located in the rural area of Nakagawa town in the Nasu District of Tochigi. There are tent sites with and without electricity options. And they have several different types of cabins. Including the Santa cabin which we had the great pleasure of staying in (see more on the blog side of City-cost). Apart from accommodation the site has an all year round Christmas shop which has a small Santa museum of sorts on the top floor. They have night illumination in winter. And there is a nice cafe on the grounds too. There is also a hot spring in a bus which is popular due to the novelty. There are hammocks for kids to play with and a large hideout or den too. Prices for accommodation vary greatly from 3000 yen (campsite) to 35,000 yen (larger cabin). Parking is free unless you have more than one car per campsite / cabin.
