This old kura storehouse complex is worth a look for the interesting handicrafts and the interior of the preserved building. There are lots of different crafts including paper models of the dashi floats used in festivals. Next door on the sidestreet is an atelier for wooden toys, crafts, and trinkets. Here, I picked up wooden clips decorated with mizuhiki paper strips. The kankokan is also a spot to get directions and tourist information so you shouldn't be shy about popping in without a purchase.
