Kamikawachi Service Area (Inbound)

Large service area on the Tohoku Expressway heading into Tokyo

Kamikawachi is a parking and service area in Utsunomiya, Tochigi. It is on the Tohoku Expressway on the way into Tokyo. It has parking for 171 cars and 44 large vehicles. Like most large sized service cum parking areas, it has the usual facilities of toilets, eateries, shopping, smoking area and an EV quick car charger. There is a sit down restaurant with table service as well as a food court with self service. It also has a petrol station. There is a smart interchange too, so if you have an ETC card or equivalent you can exit the expressway at this parking area. We've stopped here at least six times over the years and it is always busy in our experience. However, we've never been here late at night so it might be quieter after dark. Service is pretty good. And it has everything you need for a quick break on a road trip.
