Washer and Dryer Combo Recommendation
Our washer/dryer has been acting up. It is falling apart as well which it shouldn't do seeing as it isn't that old. We bought it not even two years ago, used but only a year old. From the beginning, we knew it was a bit of a bad purchase. It doesn't dry very well and turned everything into knots. To avoid that again I want to know if anyone else has a good recommendation for a washer dryer combo. For a family of five, we do a lot of laundry.

We have this Sharp one: https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B01H6CMJ3K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It was great at the start too (we bought it in 2017) but we're noticing some issues with ours now too. I think that the washer/dryer combo machines are hard because (in my opinion) the drying cycle just isn't as strong as what it would be with a stand-alone dryer. We don't have the space for that right now, so the washer/dryer combo stays, but often our dryer does the "ending up in knots thing" too. I don't know if my comment has been any help other than saying maybe this is a common issue with washer/dryer combos. Hopefully someone else may have a better experience or recommendation that has stood the test of time!

@genkidesu I wonder if the front open have a better spin cycle. I know they are better for washing with less water. Ours is the same shape as yours. https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B07DMSP3M3/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=%E3%83%93%E3%83%BC%E3%83%88%E3%82%A6%E3%82%A9%E3%83%83%E3%82%B7%E3%83%A5&qid=1576625407&s=appliances&sr=1-6 Does yours still dry all the way even if it gets tangled?

@edthethe it gets there eventually, but we usually have to stop it, separate things that have gotten tangled, and re-do the process. For bigger stuff, we've taken to washing it at home and then taking it to the laundromat close by to dry it... It's just so much quicker. And you know how it is with kids...you feel like you're always washing and drying, so anything that helps the process is useful. Curious about the front loaders rather than top loaders, I hope someone can chime in about it.

We don't do more than two loads a week most of the time but our cheap washer dryer (Haier Spiral Air Dry) is four years old now. We've never used the dryer function. During the washes, things that aren't in small laundry bags get tangled up. I've heard that checking the outside vent for lint can be a huge factor in drying time.

I have a Panasonic cuble, bought 2017 but built 2016. It's very expensive, but I asked for a discount at K's Denki right after the model change and I got more than 50% discount in total (still expensive). I use it daily and often use the dryer function. At least 3 times a week, sometimes daily. (I hate to use something so detrimental to the environment PLUS: I hardly ever have to fight with knots. The clothes will always dry properly, but if I put in too much at once, the clothes end up stinky (it does say so in the instructions). My e-bill isn't expensive, even though I use the dryer A LOT. The washing machine can wash with hot water and has a "delicate" setting that has never messed up anything precious I own. Awesome timer. MINUS: Certain parts had to be switched out, but I was told with my constant use of the dryer, that's only natural. (So far everything was covered by the guarantee, and I can really recommend K's Denki in this respect!) Frontloaders have trouble with certain washing detergents (natural, soap based stuff) so if you wanna wash with Shabon or similar washing detergents, you should probably aim for a toploader. Expensive. I love the Cuble. Still not sure if I would buy it again. I just hope it doesn't break anytime soon.
