Hershey's Crunch Choco Monaka

With summer here, I'm sure everyone has been stocking up on some ice cream! I haven't eaten much ice cream since last summer, so I wanted to see what was new and good. I was craving chocolate so when I saw a familiar chocolate brand I had to get it. 

I've never seen this ice cream before, but it looked like a wafer sandwich crunch bar. Monaka is actually a Japanese sweet dessert (wagashi) with azuki bean jam filling between two wafers. I thought this was cool for a Japanese style of Hershey's since it is incorporating a traditional snack with a modern twist (ice cream). I love wafers, monaka, and chocolate crunch so this was the perfect choice for me. 

There are 8 of these small ice cream sandwiches. They are very bite-sized and easy to eat. I ate about 3 in one sitting, but they are so small that I probably can eat all 8 in one sitting. 

At first I didn't care for the wafer part, but I don't expect much since it is frozen. I opened it up to see just how it compares to the box. Although it appears that there is not much chocolate, you can definitely taste the crunch when biting into it. I wouldn't mind a little more chocolate, but I think it tastes good enough with the crunchy texture. I'll definitely continue to stock up on these throughout the summer!
