Japan Post Update

Japan Post Update photo

Starting on October 2nd, 2021, Japan Post will no longer be delivering mail on Saturdays.

This means the number of days that mail is delivered will decrease, as it will change to only weekdays that are not holidays. (The post office will remain open on Saturdays, but not make deliveries.) It will take an extra day to deliver registered mail posted on Fridays-Sundays because of this.

Details in Japanese on their site.

This doesn't bother me at all and I prefer it if the alternative is postage prices going up.

For those of you using Japan Post for business, this might be important. For me it just means I won't have to receive deliveries from Japan Post on weekends (while I'm out or trying to relax).

Just to clarify this is only for regular mail. Yu-pack, letters with tracking, letter packs etc. still be delivered on Saturdays.
