Dandelion Root Tea

Tanpopo Coffee (タンポポコーヒー) or roasted dandelion root tea isn't a new thing for me. I sometimes drank a powdered version in the states, blended with beetroot sugar and roasted chicory root. Chicory root has been used blended with coffee for a long time.

I've seen something like that in Kaldi Coffee Farm but it's really expensive and marketed to expecting mothers as it has no caffeine, but has an earthy taste similar to coffee.

As you can see, the color is also dark like coffee. It's not at all sweet, but the bitter taste that coffee has isn't there either.

We went to a restaurant one time that had this tea at their drink bar. We really liked it, so later I bought some on Amazon.

It uses roasted dandelion root, black soybeans, and black sesame seeds. I love the aroma but if you aren't a fan of beans or sesame, it's probably not for you.

Of course this isn't a real replacement for coffee, but it's perfect if you want to cut back and replace coffee with something caffeine free.
