A cool (literally) way to spend some time indoors

If you're in Tokyo and you're looking for a way to keep yourself and your kiddos cool, I highly recommend the Antarctica exhibition at the Miraikan right now. It's running until September 27, 2026, so you still have a few weeks to go and check it out!

There's loads to see and do, including the ability to actually handle Antarctic ice! That was a real highlight and I think it's a perfect indoor activity for a hot day. If your kids are animal lovers there's plenty to learn about penguins, seals, and Antarctic wildlife. They can also examine rocks and fossils, and learn how researchers study Antarctica's atmosphere and oceans.

Because it's a special exhibition it's priced higher than standard Miraikan admission, but you get to enjoy the rest of the venue's permanent collection for the price. Adults are 2000 yen, and kids aged 6 to 18 are 1300 yen.
