The description

This product is a Dole Acai bowl, and it's available at 7-11 stores for a limited time. You can find it in the freezer section, and it's priced at 497 yen including tax.

The good

Acai bowls are relatively easy to come across in my home country, and when I lived in Tokyo for several years there were quite a few cafes where I could get my fix. They're not all that common out here in Niigata, though, so I was excited to see this offering from Dole at 7-11 this week! It comes frozen, and you just defrost it for about 30 seconds in the microwave before it's ready to consume -- so a relatively quick preparation time! It comes with some chopped fruit (strawberries, banana, blueberries) and a little packet of granola to add on the top for some extra crunchy texture.

The not so good

The big downside with this is the price -- I don't think acai bowls are ever very cheap, but this one is smaller than what you'd get from a cafe, and it still costs basically 500 yen. I can make a yogurt bowl at home for about half that, and yes, yogurt and acai aren't the same thing, but they're still super satisfying. Even though I greatly enjoyed this, I don't think I'd purchase it more than this once and that's primarily based on the price. Still, it's worth giving it a try if you're an acai fan and you're looking for an accessible option. Happy eating, and enjoy!
