Japan's epic bread spreads
One of the more unexpected culture shocks I've had living in Japan is realizing just how seriously this country takes bread spreads.
Growing up in Australia, toast toppings felt pretty straightforward. There was Vegemite, peanut butter, maybe Nutella, and a few different jams. Nothing overly exciting or novel. Then I moved here, and I've come across some really fun offerings over the years!

One of the best-known examples is the hugely popular curry bread spread from Kaldi Coffee Farm, which transforms regular toast into something similar to crispy kare-pan after a few minutes in the toaster. There's also a melon pan spread that recreates the sweet crunchy topping, along with pastry-inspired options like a kouign-amann spread that caramelizes while baking.
Do you know of any other cool bread spreads here that would be unusual in your home country?
