The evolution of spring
One of the things I enjoy most about spring, aside from the fact that it’s no longer bone-chillingly cold, is the clear progression of the season’s stages.
All from the vacant lot across the street. I love daffodils - they always look so cheerful to me - and even more so when they’re my marker that the Niigata winter is done with for another year.
Now, to focus on cherry blossom watch! Hopefully within a week we’ll be enjoying the blooms that many of you are already saying sayonara to.

Japan has so many climates, doesn't it? This past weekend, the first bright green leaves started to appear on cherry trees in Tokyo. Enjoy your later spring!

@TonetoEdo it's one of the things I love about living here, that there is so much diversity. Makes things bearable! I've taken trips to Okinawa in the winter and Hokkaido in the summer just to escape the harsh seasons that can be felt elsewhere! Very much enjoying spring so far - just not the allergies. So much cedar out here that I feel like I'm constantly wheezing and itching at my eyes!
