Japan's rankings of top gyoza spending areas

If ramen often steals the spotlight in Japan's food spending rankings, it's probably safe to say that gyoza runs a very close second. New household purchase data shows that Hamamatsu City once again topped the nation for gyoza spending last year, claiming the number one spot for the third year in a row.

According to the figures, households in Hamamatsu spent an average of 4,046 yen on gyoza purchases over the year, which put the them ahead of their longtime rival Utsunomiya, where households spent 3,575 yen, and Miyazaki City, which came in at 3,418 yen. Since 2016, Hamamatsu has taken the top position six times, which to me isn't surprising since they're known as one of the gyoza capitals of Japan.

Lovely part of the world too! We have family in Hamamatsu, I am envisioning them sitting around a table of gyoza right now!
