August set to bring another round of grocery price hikes
Honestly, I need to stop reading the news, because it seems like there's not a lot of good news out there...budgetary or otherwise.
According to a recent report by Teikoku Databank (via Japan Times), over 1,000 food and beverage items are set to see price hikes this August, led by big names like Megmilk Snow Brand and Morinaga Milk. That means things like milk, yogurt, and other dairy staples are going up by as much as 7.4%. We go through a ton of dairy products in my household, so this really wasn't ideal to learn about...but maybe being aware of it ahead of time helps?!
Also worth noting from the article was that this is the eighth month in a row that prices have climbed, with over 19,000 items jumping in price already this year. The hits keep coming, with October set to bring a jump in price to another 3000 items. When is it going to end?
