My new favorite sunscreen

I'm the kind of person that has to wear sunscreen even in the dead of winter. I'm naturally pale and freckly, and find myself burning in about 10 minutes flat when I don't have sunscreen on in the summer months. Plus, I'm also trying to be a responsible adult and set a good example for my kids when it comes to being sun-smart.

As a result, I've found it to be a bit of a mission to try out various sunscreens since living here. Some I've found too runny and watery. Others have gone to the opposite end of the spectrum and been too goopy and sticky. Recently, I found a bottle that to me is the triple threat of sunscreeny goodness - Pompompurin UV Shield Mild Gel Sunscreen!

Why do I love it so much? Here's three good reasons...

1. It comes in a ridiculously cute bottle.

Look, this obviously isn't a prerequisite for sunscreen, and in fact for some people the cute bottle might work as a deterrent a deterrent. However, I'm closing in on my mid-30's and still get sucked in to buying cute stuff like this. I love Pompompurin and if you're telling me that I can have sun protection plus have it in a cute bottle, you're adding some pretty big selling points for me.

2. It's a really good consistency.

Out of the bottle, the sunscreen looks much like the other stuff on the market, but it's a gel rather than a thick lotion, so it absorbs into your skin really quickly. I lathered up my arms with it this morning since I had some errands to run, and basically seconds after applying it, I couldn't feel it on my skin. I'm not a fan of sunscreens that leave me feeling stickier than the summer humidity already does - so this was a winner for me!

3. It also includes bug repellent in the formula!

Keeping sunburn and pesky bugs at bay? Added bonus! The formulation they use has natural scents that work as bug repellents, including eucalyptus and mint oil. It has a nice smell to me, but I love the scent of eucalyptus - a trademark of being Australian, I guess! It's also safe for kids to use, so feel free to lather your littlies to your heart's content!

You can find the Pompompurin Mild Gel Sunscreen on Amazon Japan here.

I hate the runny sunscreen. It is only recently that I have found some that seem to have some consistency. If I ever run out of the stuff my mom mailed, I will check this one out.
