The description
This product is a white chocolate macadamia doughnut, and it's available from Starbucks stores for a limited time. It was priced at 310 yen including tax.
The good
A little fun fact for anyone who likes them - macadamias are native to my home country (Australia), and they're pretty easy to come across back there. I don't see them as often here, but whenever I see a dessert incorporating them it makes me want to try it! This white chocolate macadamia doughnut is a yummy offering available at Starbucks stores right now, and it was a fun mix of flavors and textures. The doughnut dough itself comes filled with a macadamia flavored cream, and then the whole thing is topped with a white chocolate coating that has little bits of roasted macadamia nuts throughout it. Enough texture to have a doughnut that wasn't completely smooth-feeling, but not so much that you're crunching away the whole time.
The not so good
At 310 yen this is a bit more expensive than your average doughnut at somewhere like Mister Donut, but on par (or even cheaper) than some of their more specialty items. Based on that, I don't think it's too bad, but if you are just looking to get your doughnut fix without caring too much about toppings and the like, then you could find more budget options elsewhere. Even convenience stores are a good place to look! Overall though, I liked this quite a lot. The nuttiness combined with the sweetness of the white chocolate worked really nicely together, and I'd probably buy this again if I was craving it and if Starbucks were still selling it. Hope you enjoy it if you end up giving it a try! :)
