The good
Mcdonalds does a really good job of releasing fun, limited time offerings throughout the year, and right now they have a couple of seasonal dessert pies that are worth trying out. This salty caramel almond pie is one of them, and I think it has a nice balance of flavors. The outer pie crust portion is pretty par for the course, and the inner filling consists of three components: an almond cream, a salted caramel cream, and some caramel filling. Price wise I feel like 220 yen is pretty reasonable for a dessert, too, so I've got no real complaints there.
The not so good
One downside with this product is that it's only a limited time thing. If you find yourself really enjoying it, the window to get your hands on it is pretty small. If it sounds like a must try item to you, I would recommend heading in to your nearest McDonalds store sooner rather than later. Also, if you prefer your pies with a bit of texture to them (e.g. the standard apple pie) then this might seem a bit too smooth and creamy for you. Overall though, this is a fun and tasty sweet treat, and I think the almond and caramel flavors work nicely together. Hope you also enjoy it if you end up giving it a try -- happy eating! :)
