This Black Thunder Chocolate Monaka is another one of the items from the Black Thunder sweets fair at Family Mart, and flavor-wise it's a real winner! The actual wafer outer is black in color, so I feel like that already sets it apart from most other monaka I've ever come across. As for the filling, there are two types of cookies mixed into a layer of chocolate which recreates that crunchy Black Thunder texture, and the ice cream is chocolate flavored. Overall, I would say this is worth trying at least once if you're a Black Thunder aficionado.

In terms of price, this is more expensive than a lot of other convenience store ice cream products, coming in at almost 350 yen. I think if you're just after an ice cream there are definitely more economical options to choose from. Price point aside, this is a really tasty and fun ice cream option, and I think it does a good job of recreating the textural crunch and flavors of a Black Thunder bar. Head in to your nearest Family Mart store sooner rather than later if it sounds like a must try item to you. Happy eating! :)
