IKEA is opening another Japan store
Good news for those of you who are living in Tokyo! IKEA is opening another store, and this one's in a very convenient location. IKEA Toyosu opens on September 3rd (in just a couple of days!) inside Urban Dock LaLaport Toyosu, which is directly connected to Toyosu Station and just five minutes by train from Ginza.

Along with all the furnishings and homewares, they also have a pretty clutch range of plush toys ;)
I've relied on IKEA quite a bit over the years here, particularly when I've wanted something that feels a little more familiar to my Australian eyes. Finding Western-style mattresses, for example, can be surprisingly tricky in Japan, and IKEA has been a great option when you want something comfy without spending a fortune.
The same goes for beds, storage, desks and all those other bits and pieces you need when setting up a home. IKEA's inexpensive furnishings have saved us more than once!
The new Toyosu store will have around 600 furniture, homeware and Swedish food products, with a particular focus on storage for urban homes. Around 500 items will be available to take home on the day.
While another IKEA might not sound like groundbreaking news to some folks, for us expats trying to furnish a home in Japan without blowing the budget, I'd call it a pretty welcome addition.
